OUR SCHOOL · MONTESSORI PEDAGOGY

Let them learn
to adapt.

Montessori pedagogy is built on the scientific observation of children—and on preparing them for a world we cannot yet imagine.

THE CORE OF OUR APPROACH

“Let’s not raise our children for today’s world. This world will not exist when they grow up.”

Nothing allows us to know which world will be theirs—so let them learn to adapt. This is the heart of our Montessori school’s pedagogical approach.

A SCIENTIFIC FOUNDATION

The child is considered as a whole.

Dr Maria Montessori’s method was founded on the scientific observation of children. She discovered that children go through different stages of development and designed a suitable environment for each age group.

It was important to her to work on all of a child’s abilities, in every dimension—physical, social, intellectual and emotional—within a group and a society.

THE FOUNDATIONS OF MONTESSORI PEDAGOGY

Five foundations.
One coherent experience.

01

Mixed-age classes

Mixed ages stimulate social behaviour, foster collaboration and develop the exchange of ideas and interaction within a group.

02

A three-hour work cycle

An uninterrupted work cycle gives the child time to develop concentration, to repeat concepts and so to perfect their work and develop their potential.

03

A prepared environment

One of the core components of the pedagogy: Montessori materials encourage self-directed activity, help build internal order, engage curiosity and invite exploration and self-correction.

04

A trained adult

The adult guides the child on the path of learning with accuracy and discretion, so that the child develops confidence and abilities.

05

Freedom within limits

Choosing an activity within limits lets the child be independent while taking responsibility—following their interests, demonstrating self-discipline and developing inner freedom.

THE PREPARED ENVIRONMENT

Independent of the adult.

Montessori materials encourage self-directed activities, help children build their internal order, engage their curiosity and invite exploration and self-correction.

Freedom and discipline grow together: children follow their interests, demonstrate self-discipline, develop their inner freedom—and so thrive and become happier.

“The first aim of the prepared environment is, as far as it is possible, to render the growing child independent of the adult.” — Maria Montessori
